How To Erect Concrete Fence Posts And Gravel Boards?
Erecting concrete fence posts and gravel boards requires careful planning and execution to ensure a sturdy and long-lasting fence. The first step is to measure and mark the positions for your posts. Use a string line to ensure that the fence line is straight and use wooden stakes to mark the positions of each post. It is crucial to space the posts evenly, typically around 1.8 to 2.4 metres apart, depending on the design and length of the fence panels you are using. Once the positions are marked, dig holes for the posts using a post hole digger or an auger. The holes should be around 60 cm deep and 30 cm wide to provide a stable base for the posts.
After digging the holes, place a layer of gravel at the bottom of each hole to help with drainage and stabilise the post. If your fence design includes slots in the posts for the gravel boards, simply slide the board into the slot. Make sure the gravel boards are level before tightening any fixings or securing them permanently.
Once the concrete has set and the gravel boards are in place, you can proceed to attach the fence panels. Slide the panels into the slots on the concrete posts, or use appropriate fixings to secure them if there are no slots. Ensure that each panel is level and evenly spaced from the ground. Check the stability and alignment of the entire fence line periodically as you work your way along, making adjustments as necessary.
